Selecting Paper for your Prints part 2

On my last blog I touched on how to determine what types of paper you should print your artwork to. Today I'll add to that two other papers which are close contenders to being preferred for the more artsy style of prints. Overall I would recommend these two papers if your presentation would be for the more traditional style of artwork.

Water Color paper, it prints very nice, has a definite texture to it and has an even tone across the color spectrum. I recommend this paper for water color
like and postcard like images. I was surprised at how well bright tones were presented and the dark colors did not seem to overpower. Again the texture is what really adds to the artwork, especially if the piece is more represented of water color paintings.

Cool Tone Picture Rag was also a nice surprise. This paper did not print with such deep dark tones as the Velvet or the Matte. The print was overall very even in density, blacks not too black and whites not too white. In my opinion this paper prints very nice for those pieces that have an even color pallet. The paper is not as thick as the Velvet but still has more of a texture than the thinner Matte Photo paper.

Overall I would recommend these two papers if your presentation would be for the more traditional style of artwork your looking for and definitely if paired with a very nice frame and mat/mats, I believe you would have a winner.

Take care and keep the art scene alive,
