Description

Lately I've had an affinity for photographing and painting churches. This particular church is Moody Methodist and is on Galveston Island on the southeast coast of Texas. It was a beautiful sunny day and I took several photographs from different angles looking for a pleasing composition. I found this image the most pleasing and went to work transforming it into a piece of art. For my taste, photographs always seem to contain too much detail, so that was the first thing I took care of. For me, simple is better and this piece shows the essence of the church illuminated by the sunlight, flanked by multiple palm trees common on the church property. My signature bristle brush strokes across the sky adds to the interest of this piece of art.
