Artist's Description
She stands, high above the street looking down amongst all others, atop the tower of the Saint Mary Cathedral in Galveston. This Basilica is a historic landmark from the 1800's built first as a small wooden framed church dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary. Over time it has grown and as construction developed, a more large and permanent church is now in it's place. It has survived the 1900 storm of Galveston as well as Hurricane Ike and it's storm surge. If you ever travel to Galveston, this Cathedral is a sight to behold.
